Juan Martin Del Potro on Sunday was the desire to lift the Montreal Masters of losing power in September and fell in the decisive final 6-7 (4), 7-6 (3), 6-1 before Britain's Andy Murray.
In a grueling final, Murray was awarded with his fifth title of the season in a week that left him with the new number two man in the world having moved to Rafael Nadal.
Del Potro, who had won the tournament in Washington last week, took the game to them in the second set with a 6-5 advantage.
But the course of the game changed when the Argentine requested medical attention. Murray swept their game with the serve and then won the tiebreaker for the final extension.
Del Potro left the court for several minutes after the second set and was not the same when he returned, to be quickly down 4-0.
Playing his first final in a Masters Series tournament, the Argentine 20 years managed to break serve to reach 4-1 to Murray. Again requested medical assistance and Murray achieved a break to go 5-1 and then sentenced to serve you.
After 2 hours and 17 minutes to contest the first two sets, Murray needed just 25 minutes to stay in the third before a Del Potro exhausted.
The final was played in a hot and humid days to complete a full 11,490 spectators at Uniprix Stadium.
Murray did not give a set in the tournament, her first since Wimbledon, until Del Potro won the first of the final in a tiebreaker.
